Your Rubbish !!!
The Project
The aim of the game is about putting your rubbish in the correct recycling bins. How does the game work ? There are 4 different bins. Red = tins/ metal Yellow = clothes/textiles Blue = plastic Green = paper The goal is to put the rubbish ( eg a milk carton, juice bottle, cans, paper or clothes items ) into the correct bin. Items to recycle will randomly appear from the hand. So that they can be placed in the correct bin. If an item is recycled correctly the player will receive 1000 points ( the score value is high to place a valuable importance on recycling) if the item is not placed in the correct bin the item will be spewed back out and you will lose 1000 points off your score. There will be a timer set for 1 minute to complete the game. At the start the background of the game will be an image of a landfill with loads of rubbish piled up. The recycling bins will be in the front. The timer counts down and when it reaches 0 the background will change into a nice clean beach to show the player has completed the recycling challenge and done a good job at cleaning up the environment. A message will appear on the screen. This is my first time making a game so I’ve got a lot to learn and a lot to improve.
Team Comments
I chose to make this project because...Recycling is an important task to do when helping and protecting the environment and wildlife and hopefully reducing landfills. At home we recycle so I know what can go in our blue bin. But I know some people don’t do it properly so this will raise awareness
What I found difficult and how I worked it outI found it difficult to code for the rubbish to be draggable when not coding. I was able to get help from the kids in my coding club. 1 boy in particular showed me how to solve this issue so I could then do it myself. Unfortunately I still couldn’t get the game to drag and drop into the correct bin
Next time, I would...I would make the game longer and maybe add some hidden challenges for bonus points. All with a recycling topic.
