PostureGuide

The Project

PostureGuide is a mobile app that enables users to monitor and fix their postures over an extended periods of desk hours, working, and simply sitting. The three main components making up the experience for PostureGuide is the mobile app, an optional Raspberry Pi camera module, and the analysis pipeline.

I chose to make this project because...

Like millions of other people in the world, I've often been called out for slouching whenever I'm sitting at my desk. I've noticed this trend among my friends and other family members, so I came up with the idea to create an app that helps monitor user's postures.

What I found difficult and how I worked it out

One major issue was the communication between the Raspberry Pi and the Flutter App, especially for live video transmission which required low latency for a responsive user experience. This was addressed by using optimized video compression, efficient streaming protocols, and Firebase.

Next time, I would...

In the near future, I hope to add several new features such as interactive graphs or charts that show trends of the user's posture over time. This way, they will be able to further analyze and focus on new patterns they haven't noticed before.
