The Project

Hugy is a psychotherapy app that uses language models to create an interactive environment for users to talk about their mental health issues. It also features a date-based journal, multiple built-in chat bot personas, and an AI-based activity list that changes frequently.

I chose to make this project because...

There was the need for a fun mental health app that not only included journaling, but chat bots to talk to. Although they are not real people, language models are knowledgeable enough to provide decent counselling, though they should not be a replacement for real therapists.

What I found difficult and how I worked it out

Initially, there were issues with the integrating the ChatGPT API with flutter, so I switched to google's new Gemini pro 1.0 api which is free and has a free image processing API.

I would've made the app like a game; that is, there would be characters that the user could interact with, much like in Duolingo.
