A Smart Color Resolution Assist System with Augmented Reality Glasses for Colorblind Patients based on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

The Project

The main purpose of my project is to help individuals with color blindness by using an AI that can recognize and tell the user different objects' colors and names in a camera feed so that colorblind individuals can identify what colors they are currently observing.

I chose to make this project because...

I chose to make this project because of the issue that colorblindness poses; 1 in 12 people are color blind, and an estimated 300 million people suffer from the deficiency. Because of this, I wanted to make a program in order to help and improve the lives of colorblind individuals.

What I found difficult and how I worked it out

One thing that I found difficult was how to get the image to show on the display of the Raspberry Pi. I resolved this by simply interfacing with the system via SSH and using OpenCV to interface with the camera/mini display setup so that the image would successfully show on the display.

Next time, I would...

If I had more time, I would've implemented my app into wearable glasses that can tell users information in real time. Currently, my app can relay information in real time, but I haven't implemented the app into colorblind glasses yet.
