Revival

The Project

My project is based on two of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty and Climate Action and one of the current issues that the world is facing, the Environment Problem. My project is a top-down RPG game called "Revival". In this game, you play as a young man named Ethan, who is on a mission to save a village suffering from poverty, climate change, and environmental problems. The entire village is covered in a dome, which was created by a monster. As you progress through the game, you must save people, bring back the wealth and greenery that the village originally had, and defeat the monster that created the dome. "Revival" is not just any RPG game. It has a strong focus on the environment and is designed to raise awareness about the current issues that the world is facing. You will learn about the SDGs and environmental problems without even realizing it, as the game incorporates educational elements seamlessly into the gameplay. The game mechanics include the ability to walk, sprint, crouch, climb, sword, block, and more. It also has both mobile and PC controls, making it accessible to players with different devices. Additionally, the game includes a save feature, allowing you to save your progress or settings and continue where you left off.

Team Comments

I chose to make this project because...

I always wanted to create a game that would not only entertain but also educate players on important global issues. With "Revival", players will learn about No Poverty and Climate Action and the Environment Problem, while having fun playing the game.

What I found difficult and how I worked it out

I find difficult in managing all the different stages, such as the title screen, cutscenes, gameplay, settings, end screen and others. To overcome this challenge, I created a variable that acted as a master controller. This controller allowed me to easily toggle between stages.

Next time, I would...

I would expand the educational aspect by incorporating more of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals into the game. This would provide players with a deeper understanding of these important global objectives, allowing them to learn and engage with real-world issues more.
